In October, the national building materials boom index exceeded 100

Recently, the National Building Materials Index (BHI) released by the Department of Circulation Industry Development of the Ministry of Commerce and the China Building Materials Circulation Association released the data for October, which was 113.49, a decrease of 3.98 points month-on-month and a decrease of 9.73 points year-on-year. The sales volume of building materials homes above designated size in China was 122.94 billion yuan in October, a month-on-month increase of 4.49%, a year-on-year decrease of 14.57%. From January to October, the accumulated sales amounted to 987.47 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 2.76%.

Qin Zhanxue, executive vice president of the China Building Materials Circulation Association, said that in the third quarter of 2014, BHI rose month by month and began to decline in October. The “Silver Yen” and “Golden Week” promotional peaks only brought 4.49% of total sales for the month. The growth rate is quite different from the same period of last year. In September BHI became the highest point of the year.

Qin Zhanxue analyzed: “In October, the national property market sales rebounded. But after all, it was a gradual process, coupled with the market lag in the building materials industry, so the October BHI gap was not unexpected compared to the same period last year, including sub-indexes. The 'personality index', 'sales ability index' and 'employment rate index' have seen a larger year-on-year decline, with the sub-index 'manager confidence index' showing a larger decline. It is expected that the home building market may not pick up in the remaining two months of 2014. It is advisable for enterprises to grasp the new holiday hot spots such as 'Double 12' and open up marketing methods to occupy the industry's opportunities."
